DWI Approved
As part of our product range Silotank offer the Leinster tanks as DWI and WRAS approved Products. Since our start Silotank have been specialising in industrial and potable water tanks. All tanks for water are made from materials that are WRAS approved but also by buying a tank from the Leinster range you can be assured that they have went through further testing to be approved by the Drinking Water Inspectorate(DWI). The Drinking Water Inspectorate regulates public water supplies in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. DWI is responsible for assessing the quality of drinking water in England and Wales, taking enforcement steps if standards are not being met, and appropriate action when water is unfit for human consumption.
DWI also approves the processes and products to be used in the processing of raw water. It has set tough test regimes for approval and every process/ product submitted for an approval has to undergo a long process of tests, improvements and modifications.
Following the company ethos of quality and service, Silotank approached our material partners for development of special formulation of thermoplastic sheets, welding rods, connections and pipes used in the manufacture of tanks. Working in conjunction with our partners and quality auditors we also re-designed our in-house manufacture process to ensure we met the required quality standards set out in Regulation 31.
After months of research and development we submitted our Leinster and Connaught range of industrial water tanks and towers for testing and approval in accordance to:
- Regulation 31(4)(a) of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2000 SI No.3184 & The Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2010 SI No.994 (W.99) in England & Wales,
- Regulation 33(3)(a) of the Public Water Supplies (Scotland) Regulations 2014,
- Regulation 30 of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007
The Leinster DWI Range
The Leinster range of water tanks and towers are made from a specially formulated high grade of thermoplastic. The special formulation ensures a non-toxic and non-leaching material suitable for long-term storage and handling of potable water.
The whole process involves specially formulated thermoplastic sheets, fittings, welding rods and manufacture practice.
Leinster range of water tanks are designed within a nominal capacity range from 2,000 litres to 70,000 litres.
