The
founders of the company quickly realised that the growth of the company
would be based on key personnel. Skilled craftsmen where head hunted from
a variety of areas to take on key management positions. As a result of
this approach, we now have a considerable number of years experience in
the handling of GRP and thermoplastic materials.
In addition, the company also wanted to formalise its training for new
employees. Silotank teamed up with the Engineering Council of Great Britain
to develop an NVQ scheme based on apprentices working alongside skilled
craftsmen. We are the only GRP tank manufacturer in the UK or Ireland
to offer an NVQ up to level 3 in GRP lamination to its employees. The
scheme covers general fabrication, manual lifting, COSHH regulations,
Housekeeping etc. Since the introduction of the course 3 years ago, we
have seen a considerable increase in productivity and in the quality of
the goods that we are manufacturing.
We employ two full time mechanical engineers and a full time chemical
engineer. Our engineering team allows us to provide turnkey odour and
chemical scrubbing packages as well as front-end design studies and consultancy.
